Woman Killed After Exiting Car on Busy Pasco County Highway

A tragic accident occurred early Saturday morning in Pasco County, Florida, when a woman was struck and killed by a vehicle after exiting her car on the side of SR-54.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident happened around 12:10 a.m. on State Road 54, near Crescent Mood Drive. A 21-year-old man from Lutz was driving eastbound in a Ford Explorer when the accident took place.

At the same time, a 40-year-old woman from Land O’ Lakes had stopped her Honda Civic on the side of the road for reasons not yet known. As the Explorer approached, the woman opened her driver’s side door and stepped out of the vehicle. Unfortunately, she was hit by the passing Ford Explorer.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her passenger, a 37-year-old man from Odessa, sustained minor injuries. The driver of the Ford Explorer was not injured in the collision.

The circumstances leading to the woman’s decision to exit her vehicle are still under investigation.
