(Kyiv) – The United Kingdom has pledged to deliver 150 artillery pieces and a cutting-edge mobile air defence system to Ukraine, further solidifying its role as a key ally in Ukraine’s fight against Russian aggression. The announcement was made by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer during a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv.
Starmer revealed that the artillery, produced in the UK for the first time in over two decades, will be delivered to Ukraine within weeks. “We are providing 150 barrels for artillery that will be manufactured in the United Kingdom and delivered to Ukraine in just a few weeks,” Starmer stated. He also announced the deployment of a mobile air defence system called Greatful, co-financed by Denmark.
The military support is part of a broader commitment formalised in the Declaration of Distinctive Partnership, signed by Zelenskyy and Starmer. This agreement guarantees an annual £3 billion military aid package to Ukraine until 2030/31, or as long as it is needed.

Starmer emphasised the UK’s commitment to training Ukrainian soldiers, building on the 50,000 personnel already trained in Britain. “In addition to the 50,000 we have already trained, we will work with allies to ramp up this work,” he said.
Zelenskyy expressed gratitude for the UK’s steadfast support, noting the $6.6 billion in total aid pledged for 2025. This sum includes $3 billion sourced from frozen Russian assets, a move that highlights the repurposing of Kremlin resources to bolster Ukrainian resilience.
