Ukrainian long-range drones successfully targeted the Shaykovka air base in Russia In a precise overnight strike on 30 to 31 March 2025, destroying critical infrastructure used to prepare and store Kh-22 and Kh-32 supersonic missiles. The base is home to the Tu-22M3 strategic bombers of the 52nd Heavy Bomber Aviation Regiment, which has frequently launched attacks on Ukraine.
Satellite imagery released by the cyber intelligence group CyberBoroshno confirmed that a missile maintenance facility and multiple storage depots at Shaykovka were obliterated. The Kh-22 and Kh-32 missiles, which require complex fuelling procedures with highly flammable liquid fuel, can no longer be serviced at the site. Satellite images reveal the disappearance of the permanent fuelling stations.

One of the destroyed structures is believed to have been directly involved in missile preparation, and another, located close to aircraft parking zones, suffered visible damage. An object at one of the aircraft parking areas could not be clearly identified. Analysts suggest it could be the remnants of a destroyed aircraft or a nearby structure.

Despite Russian claims that 24 drones were intercepted, satellite imagery and loud explosions heard in the area contradict that narrative. No official statement was made about the damage.
The strike is the latest in a series of Ukrainian drone attacks on Shaykovka air base, previously hit in August 2023, September 2024, and now March 2025. The consistent targeting reflects Ukraine’s growing drone capability and its strategic effort to degrade Russia’s ability to strike Ukrainian territory.
