A Ukrainian sniper has successfully eliminated a Russian infantry soldier with a single, accurate shot from a powerful large calibre rifle at a confirmed distance of 1450 metres. The footage was published by the Grey Area Group and shows the objective control data and shot execution using a 12.7 by 99 millimetre armour piercing incendiary round.
The sniper used a Canadian-made PGW LRT-3 rifle, firing from an extended distance of one and a half kilometres. The shot was adjusted using SAFRAN JIM LR multifunctional binoculars with a built-in laser rangefinder, helping guide the shooter to the precise moment of fire. The rifle’s recoil, described by the soldier, is intense and stronger than that of the McMillan Tac-50 rifle, despite a similar design and weight. However, the PGW LRT-3 maintains high standards of ease of disassembly, cleaning, and anti corrosion properties, which are critical in front line conditions.
The sniper, writing on his blog, described the weapon’s consistent performance in eliminating both armoured targets and enemy troops. In the recent operation, he noted the rifle’s combination of accuracy and durability allowed it to function well in combat conditions. The weapon is fitted with a native suppressor and premium grade ACCU TAC HD 50 bipods, providing added stability during the shot.
The PGW LRT-3 rifle meets the 0.5 Minute of Angle (MOA) precision standard, indicating high accuracy. This level of precision ensures that experienced snipers are capable of engaging enemy personnel and assets from distances far beyond typical rifle ranges.
