The Kyiv region came under Russian drone attacks overnight, with air raid alerts lasting more than seven hours. Air defence systems were activated, successfully neutralising several enemy targets. While no civilian casualties were reported, a fire broke out at an industrial facility in the Fastiv district following the attack. Emergency services worked swiftly to extinguish the fire and assess the damage.
The acting head of the Kyiv Regional State Administration, Mykola Kalashnyk, confirmed the attack, stating that enemy drones had targeted the region in two waves. Despite the prolonged alarm, Ukrainian air defence prevented strikes on critical and residential infrastructure. Kalashnyk reassured residents that response teams were working to eliminate the consequences of the attack.
The attack came a day after Russian forces shelled the Kyiv region on March 15, damaging seven private homes in the Bila Tserkva district and a gazebo in the Yahotyn district. No casualties were reported from those strikes either. Ukrainian authorities remain vigilant as Russia continues its assaults on civilian areas, using drone warfare to terrorise the population.
