Donald Trump has announced that details of a ceasefire agreement will be revealed on Monday, March 17. He stated that the process is going well and stressed the importance of stopping the war to prevent further bloodshed and reduce the financial burden on the United States. Trump made these remarks during an interview with journalist Sharyl Attkisson.
The US President described the war as a complicated and tragic situation, insisting that it should never have happened. He claimed that the United States has already spent 350 billion dollars on the conflict and that efforts must be made to end it. Trump claimed that around 2,000 people, including both Ukrainian and Russian soldiers, are being killed every week. He pledged to take action to bring the war to an end, though he did not specify any concrete steps.
Trump assured that progress is being made and that the ceasefire agreement is moving forward. He mentioned that negotiations are ongoing with Ukraine and that attempts are being made to reach an understanding with Russia. However, he acknowledged the complexity of the situation and suggested that more information would become available at the beginning of next week.
His comments follow previous remarks in which he admitted he was being “a little sarcastic” when he claimed he could end the war in 24 hours.
