Russian forces in Ukraine are suffering devastating losses due to the reckless decisions of their commanders, with entire units being wiped out in futile assaults. A Russian soldier from the 503rd regiment, fighting in the Zaporizhzhia direction, has revealed shocking details of the grim reality on the front line. Speaking anonymously in an online chat with a pro-Russian blogger, the serviceman painted a bleak picture of a military campaign marred by chaos, incompetence, and disregard for human life.
According to the soldier, Russian troops are being sent to certain death in wave after wave of assaults. He described how his unit was ordered to capture a strategic location, only to be met with overwhelming Ukrainian resistance. The losses were near total. “They told us, ‘Here is a landing, a forest belt. We checked with drones, and it looks clear. If you get there, you will take the stronghold. If you do not, you will dig in nearby,'” he recounted. “That is how everyone died. Almost 100 percent losses. Four hundred men went in, four hundred are gone.”
The soldier also exposed the dire state of Russian military equipment, lamenting the absence of heavy armored vehicles. Troops are forced to fight using civilian vehicles, with his battalion relying solely on outdated vans and light transport trucks. “Our battalion commander told the general that we have a ‘heavy’ battalion, but all we have are ‘loaves’ – that is what we call these old vans. No other equipment. Only these and Gazelles. That is how we fight,” he stated.
Compounding the crisis, commanders are allegedly forcing soldiers to fund repairs to their own equipment, threatening to send them into doomed assaults if they refuse. The occupier revealed that soldiers are terrified of being “zeroed out” – a euphemism for being sacrificed in suicide missions.
The failure of Russia’s military leadership was further highlighted in a recent attempt to launch an offensive in Ukraine’s Kursk region. Russian forces attempted to advance along the Psel River but suffered a crushing defeat. Russian military-linked channels openly reported the disaster, confirming that an assault near the village of Guevo, south of the Ukrainian-controlled city of Sudzha, had ended in complete failure.
Despite overwhelming evidence of failure, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has continued to falsely portray the situation as a success. In a recent address to his propagandists, he claimed that Russian troops had successfully entered Ukraine’s Sumy region. However, reports from Russian sources indicate that the supposed breakthrough was nothing more than a failed raid by a reconnaissance unit, which was quickly eliminated by Ukrainian defenders.
Discontent is growing within Russia’s pro-war circles, with many questioning whether military commanders are deliberately misleading Putin about the reality on the front. Military bloggers and Z-channels, usually loyal to the Kremlin, are now accusing Russian leadership of deception and incompetence.
