Ukrainian Forces Destroy Russian Oil Depot and Air Defence Systems in Strategic Strikes
On the night of January 18, 2025, Ukrainian Defence Forces successfully struck key enemy infrastructure in Russian territory. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed the destruction of an oil depot in the Tula region, a critical supply point for the Russian occupation forces. In addition to the oil depot, Ukrainian forces also targeted and neutralised several enemy air defence systems.
The oil depot, located at the 8 March facility in the Tula region, was used to store vital oil products intended for Russian military operations. This significant strike was carried out by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, in coordination with other components of the Defence Forces. The attack resulted in a large fire at the facility, and it is understood that this depot played a key role in supplying the Russian occupation army. Ukrainian authorities are still assessing the full extent of the damage caused by the attack.
Alongside the oil depot strike, Ukrainian UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) hit the Nebo-SVU radar station in the temporarily occupied Kherson region. These radar systems are essential for Russian air defence operations, and the strike has severely hindered their effectiveness. Additionally, Ukrainian missile forces targeted and inflicted damage on several other critical Russian air defence systems. This included the Buk-M3 complex and the 9S32M radar station, both part of the S-300 anti-aircraft missile system located in the Donetsk region, which is under Russian occupation. Ukrainian officials are currently assessing the full impact of these strikes.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated that such operations will continue until Russian military aggression against Ukraine is completely halted. The destruction of these key Russian military assets is a clear demonstration of Ukraine’s ability to strike deep into enemy territory and disrupt the operations of the Russian armed forces.
