Ukrainian forces successfully stormed a Russian position, capturing seven enemy troops in a significant operation on the Kurakhove front. The attack, executed by the elite 79th Separate Air Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), demonstrated strategic precision and determination in repelling Russian aggression.
According to an official statement from the Air Assault Forces’ Telegram channel, the Ukrainian military initiated the operation with a prolonged drone assault. The unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) relentlessly targeted Russian forces, forcing them to seek shelter in a bunker. Once the enemy was confined, the assault team moved in for the final phase of the operation.
The 79th Brigade’s troops stealthily advanced towards the Russian defensive position, ensuring they remained undetected. As expected, the bunker, which initially served as a refuge for the invaders, quickly became their prison. Ukrainian soldiers encircled the enemy, leaving them with only two choices—face certain death or surrender.
After a brief moment of resistance, the trapped Russian soldiers decided to lay down their arms. Ukrainian forces promptly secured the prisoners and escorted them to the rear, where they received necessary medical assistance. Despite the understandable animosity towards those who invaded Ukrainian land, the soldiers of the 79th Brigade upheld their moral and humanitarian standards by treating the captives with dignity.
This victory not only secured strategic ground for Ukraine’s forces but also provided an opportunity to enhance the prisoner exchange fund, which remains crucial for bringing home Ukrainian defenders who are still in Russian captivity.
