The Ukrainian Armed Forces confirmed a successful strike against Russian radar equipment in Belgorod, further weakening Russian air defense capabilities.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has confirmed that Ukrainian forces recently dealt a significant blow to Russian radar equipment. This was reported on January 17, 2025, as part of an ongoing effort to dismantle the Russian air defense system.
The attack occurred the previous afternoon when Ukrainian Missile Forces, in coordination with other branches of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, launched precision strikes targeting Russian military infrastructure in the Belgorod region. The strike resulted in the destruction of key radar equipment used by the Russian forces. Specifically, the 92H6 radar station, part of the advanced S-400 anti-aircraft missile system, was taken out of commission. This strike marks a notable achievement, as the S-400 system is one of Russia’s most sophisticated air defense systems.
In addition to the S-400 radar, the Ukrainian forces also targeted and disabled the equipment of the 336th radio engineering regiment. The radio battalion, stationed in Belgorod, sustained confirmed damage to its equipment, further hindering Russia’s defensive capabilities.
The Ukrainian General Staff noted that these operations are part of a broader strategy to weaken Russia’s air defense network, which continues to be a major target for Ukrainian forces. This latest strike demonstrates the precision and coordination of the Ukrainian military, which remains focused on dismantling Russian military infrastructure in key regions.
