Turkey continues to emphasize its commitment to Ukraine’s territorial integrity, recalling past successes and ongoing negotiations in the Black Sea region.

Turkey’s Foreign Minister, Hakan Fidan, reiterated his country’s unwavering support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. In a recent video address, Fidan emphasized that Turkey would continue to stand firm in its backing of Ukraine’s independence amidst the ongoing conflict with Russia. His statement serves as a reaffirmation of Turkey’s consistent position in the face of regional challenges.

Fidan highlighted Turkey’s role in facilitating the successful grain deal in 2022, which saw more than 33 million tons of grain exported from Ukraine. The agreement helped ease global food supply concerns and provided a crucial economic lifeline for Ukraine during the war. The Turkish Foreign Minister underscored that this was only one example of how Turkey has worked to support Ukraine throughout the crisis.

Looking forward, Fidan confirmed that Turkey remains engaged in continued negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, particularly concerning shipping routes in the Black Sea. These discussions are vital for ensuring the safe passage of goods through the region, which has become a strategic point of tension in the ongoing conflict. Fidan’s remarks reflect Turkey’s dual focus on humanitarian and diplomatic efforts to ease the impact of the war.

While Turkey’s diplomatic actions have garnered significant attention, Fidan also mentioned that 2025 could mark a turning point in the war, with the possibility of both sides growing fatigued. Despite the uncertainty, he stressed that any resolution should respect Ukraine’s territorial integrity, advocating for a fair solution that upholds the principles of sovereignty and international law.

In his comments, Fidan demonstrated Turkey’s continued role as an active mediator and supporter of Ukraine’s efforts to defend its borders. As the conflict continues, Turkey’s stance appears poised to balance diplomatic engagement with strategic support for Ukraine’s territorial integrity.
