Camouflaged military facilities in Russia’s Rostov and Leningrad regions have come under attack by drones, raising questions about the Kremlin’s tactics to conceal military production sites as civilian enterprises. This was reported by Andriy Kovalenko, the head of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council’s (NSDC) Center for Countering Disinformation, through a statement on social media, Ukrainian National News (UNN) reported.
Kovalenko alleged that Russia has been intentionally hiding military plants under the guise of civilian businesses. “Russia is passing off military plants as ordinary ones, trying to hide their true production. But everything is known,” he wrote. His comments suggest that the Kremlin’s efforts to blur the line between military and civilian infrastructure have been undermined by recent attacks.
Earlier reports from Russian officials described a fire at the PlastiFactor enterprise in the Rostov region, reportedly caused by a drone attack. The incident also led to damage in a nearby residential area, with seven houses, a school, and several building facades affected. Despite the destruction, no injuries were reported.
The attacks have placed a spotlight on Russia’s strategy of masking its military operations as part of regular industrial activity. These camouflaged sites are believed to be critical for military production, but their concealment under civilian identities has not prevented them from becoming targets.
Incident Location | Reported Damage | Casualties |
---|---|---|
PlastiFactor, Rostov | Fire, damage to seven houses, a school, and facades | None reported |
Leningrad Region (unspecified) | Military facility targeted, details unconfirmed | None reported |
These developments highlight a growing vulnerability in Russia’s strategy of concealing military infrastructure. While the Kremlin has yet to confirm the full extent of the damage or the purpose of these sites, the increasing frequency of such attacks suggests that covert operations are no longer shielded from scrutiny or precision strikes.
