(Yenakiieve) – Multiple explosions rocked the Russian-occupied city of Yenakiieve in Donetsk Oblast on December 10, reportedly following a Ukrainian strike on a Russian ammunition depot. The incident, which occurred in a residential area near a military training ground, led to urgent evacuations and heightened tensions in the region.
Yenakiieve, a key logistical hub under Russian control since 2014, has been central to the occupying forces’ operations, hosting troop deployments, equipment storage, and training activities. This latest incident aligns with Ukraine’s increasing use of long-range drone strikes to disrupt Russian military infrastructure in occupied territories and within Russia itself.
According to the Russian Telegram channel ASTRA, the targeted site appeared to be an ammunition depot. Local social media posts corroborated this, with video footage showing large explosions and thick smoke engulfing the area. These secondary detonations triggered widespread concern about potential ongoing risks.
Mash Na Donbase, a Russian propagandist Telegram channel, claimed that Ukrainian forces launched the attack using “three HIMARS.” The resulting explosions forced local authorities to evacuate residents from 13 nearby streets. Sergey Bozhik, the Russian-appointed head of the city, issued a directive for residents to take essential documents and belongings as they fled, although no official reason was given.
Witnesses suggested that the depot held a significant stockpile of varied ammunition, raising fears that further explosions could occur for an extended period. The occupying forces quickly cordoned off the affected area, urging remaining residents to stay indoors and away from windows to avoid potential harm.
So far, Ukrainian officials have neither confirmed nor denied involvement in the incident. However, this attack, if verified, underscores Ukraine’s growing ability to disrupt critical supply lines and logistical operations in Russian-held territories.
This latest development follows a pattern of intensified Ukrainian strikes aimed at undermining Russian military effectiveness, particularly in regions considered pivotal to Moscow’s control over occupied territories.
