(Moscow) – Unidentified attackers launched a brazen assault on the Swedish Embassy in Moscow on November 28. According to Dagens industri newspaper, the incident involved three men throwing bottles and spraying gas inside the embassy’s security area before they were detained by police.

Video footage of the attack, shared by the Belarusian news service Nexta, shows the three individuals aggressively targeting the diplomatic premises. The footage has fueled concerns about rising hostilities toward Sweden amid ongoing geopolitical tensions.

The Swedish Foreign Ministry confirmed it is in contact with the Moscow embassy, which is also working closely with Russian authorities to address the situation. While the motives behind the attack remain unclear, it is not the first time the Swedish Embassy in Moscow has been targeted. In February, masked individuals threw bags of feces at the building, coinciding with Hungary’s approval of Sweden’s NATO membership bid.

The latest attack follows Sweden’s increased military and humanitarian support for Ukraine. In September, the Swedish government proposed a military aid package exceeding €400 million, including training for Ukrainian fighter pilots on Gripen aircraft. Earlier this month, Sweden announced an additional civilian protection assistance package worth 100 million Swedish kronor.
