With the Trump/Vance campaign seemingly losing ground and the Harris/Walz team gaining momentum, the upcoming debates are shaping up to be pivotal. Recent developments suggest that the debates will draw significant attention.

J.D. Vance has confirmed his participation in a debate against Tim Walz scheduled for October 1 on CBS. The debate will be moderated by Norah O’Donnell of CBS Evening News and Margaret Brennan of Face the Nation. This debate is expected to attract substantial interest, potentially rivaling the attention given to the 2008 vice-presidential debate between Sarah Palin and Joe Biden.

Following this, the Harris campaign issued a statement announcing that the debate schedule has been finalized. Donald Trump’s campaign accepted a proposal for three debates: two presidential debates and one vice-presidential debate. The first debate will feature Vice President Kamala Harris and Donald Trump on September 10. If Trump participates, a second presidential debate is planned for October, although the exact date and moderator have not yet been determined. NBC is a likely candidate for hosting this debate, with potential moderators being Kristen Welker and Lester Holt.

The Harris campaign also stated that there would be no debate on Fox News, and it is anticipated that there will be no audience present. Vance’s proposal for two vice-presidential debates has been rejected, and a debate scheduled for September 18 on CNN will not take place.

Both Trump and Vance now face considerable pressure to participate in the scheduled debates, as avoiding them would be increasingly difficult.
