In Pemba on August 12, 2024, Ismail Jussa, the Vice Chairman of the ACT Wazalendo party, addressed a gathering of young members and supporters in Wete, North Pemba. His message emphasized the importance of steadfastness among the youth as a crucial factor for the party’s success in the upcoming general elections.
Jussa highlighted the need for young people to remain resolute and unwavering in their support for ACT Wazalendo. He spoke during the celebrations marking International Youth Day. According to Jussa, the party is committed to providing economic opportunities for young people, provided they continue to show dedication to the party’s cause.
He acknowledged the challenges of youth unemployment but assured that ACT Wazalendo is focused on offering alternative paths to success, particularly through the private sector. “I urge the youth to continue supporting our party. The strength of our party largely depends on the youth, and your commitment is vital for our performance in the upcoming elections,” Jussa stated.
Nasra Nasor, the Deputy Secretary-General for External Affairs of the party, also spoke about the importance of voter registration. She urged those without Zanzibar identification cards to obtain them to ensure their eligibility to vote. Nasor emphasized that registering to vote in large numbers is one of the key strategies for achieving electoral victory.
Additionally, Nasor introduced the ‘Binti Mzalendo’ program, designed to empower young women to speak out against the abuse faced by women and children. She noted the prevalence of such abuses across various sectors and expressed hope that the new program will bolster efforts to combat these issues.
Naasor Marhuni, the Vice Chairman of Youth in Zanzibar, outlined the purpose of the International Youth Day celebrations. He noted that the event aimed to review and discuss the challenges faced by young people in their daily lives.
