Rwanda’s ruling coalition, led by the Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF-Inkotanyi), has achieved a significant victory in the parliamentary elections held on July 15, 2024. Early results indicate that the coalition has secured approximately 62.67% of the votes.
Vote Counting Update
According to Oda Gasinzigwa, Chairperson of the National Electoral Commission (NEC), as of Tuesday evening, 96.73% of the votes had been counted. The results suggest that the RPF and its allied parties will gain a majority of seats in the Chamber of Deputies, which is the lower house of Parliament.

Composition of the Chamber of Deputies
The Chamber of Deputies is composed of 80 legislators. While 53 members are elected through direct voting by the public, the remaining 27 members are chosen by electoral colleges representing women, youth, and people with disabilities.
Presidential Election Context
The announcement of the parliamentary election results followed the preliminary results of the presidential elections. Incumbent President Paul Kagame, also from the RPF, is reported to be leading with over 99% of the votes.
