President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke with the new Prime Minister of Canada, Mark Carney, regarding a ceasefire in Ukraine. Carney reaffirmed Canada’s strong support for Ukraine and stressed the need for Russia to engage in serious negotiations rather than prolonging its aggression. He also announced that Canada would enhance its enforcement of sanctions against Russia to ensure compliance.
Carney shared details of the discussion on social network X, stating that he had spoken with Zelenskyy, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and other key allies about Ukraine’s path to peace. He underscored Canada’s commitment to supporting Ukraine’s defence and ensuring the full implementation of international sanctions against Russia. He emphasised that Russia must stop delaying and instead participate in good faith negotiations.
Canada remains one of Ukraine’s most committed allies, providing ongoing military aid to strengthen Ukraine’s ability to defend itself against Russian aggression.
