
Russian forces carried out drone attacks on civilian vehicles in the Sumy region on 16 March, injuring two people. The attacks targeted the Sumy district, specifically the Myropilska and Bilopilska communities. The Sumy Regional Prosecutor’s Office has confirmed the incidents and launched a pre-trial investigation into possible war crimes.
In the Myropilska community, an FPV drone struck a vehicle delivering bread, injuring a 48-year-old female passenger. In the Bilopilska community, another drone targeted a car, injuring a 31-year-old driver. Both attacks occurred during the day, and authorities are now gathering evidence of the strikes.
The Ukrainian prosecutor’s office has stated that the investigation is proceeding under Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code, which addresses violations of the laws and customs of war. Law enforcement officers and prosecutors are documenting the aftermath of the attacks to hold those responsible accountable.
The spokesman for the Siversk operational tactical group has warned that Russia is attempting to maintain pressure along the front line, ensuring that Ukrainian units remain on high alert.
