A Florida judge has issued a final order to overturn the controversial “Stop WOKE Act,” a law introduced by Republican Governor Ron DeSantis aimed at restricting diversity and race-based discussions in private workplaces.

U.S. District Judge Mark Walker had previously deemed the law unconstitutional. His earlier ruling was confirmed by an appeals court in March. Walker’s latest order solidifies his earlier decision by making the temporary injunction against the law permanent.

The “Stop WOKE Act” sought to prevent teaching or business practices that suggest any ethnic group is inherently racist or should feel guilt for actions committed by others. It also aimed to restrict the idea that a person’s level of privilege or oppression is determined by race or gender, and that discrimination is acceptable if it promotes diversity.

Governor DeSantis often highlighted the law during his failed presidential campaign, promoting Florida as a state where “woke goes to die.”
