Russian forces launched heavy attacks on critical energy infrastructure in Dnipropetrovsk and Odesa regions, leaving many residents without electricity. The strikes caused significant damage, prompting an urgent response from energy workers who are working to restore power. The attack, part of Russia’s ongoing campaign to destroy Ukraine’s energy sector, has once again disrupted daily life for civilians and damaged critical facilities.
The DTEK energy company confirmed the attacks, stating that Russia targeted key power facilities overnight. The company reported that teams are already on-site, working to repair the damage and restore electricity as quickly as possible. The scale of destruction is severe, and full restoration efforts may take time.
In the Dnipropetrovsk region, the city of Kryvyi Rih was hit by a missile strike, leaving 14 people wounded, including children. Residential buildings, schools, and other infrastructure were damaged. Additional destruction was reported in Synelnykivshchyna and Pavlograd districts, where infrastructure suffered extensive damage. The attacks also disrupted water supply in several cities, including Synelnykove, Pavlograd, Ternivka, and Pershotravensk, leaving thousands without access to clean water.
In the Odesa region, a fire broke out following the attacks, and critical infrastructure sustained heavy damage. One person was reported injured. Emergency services worked throughout the night to contain the fire and assess the extent of the destruction. Odesa has been a frequent target of Russian missile and drone strikes, as the Kremlin seeks to weaken Ukraine’s energy stability and civilian infrastructure.
This latest wave of attacks comes as Ukraine continues to face relentless strikes on its power grid, particularly during the winter months when demand for energy is at its highest.
