Ukraine’s export sector has continued to show resilience amidst the ongoing war with Russia. In March 2025, the country’s total exports increased by 18%, amounting to almost $9.9 billion (£7.9 billion). This marks a significant improvement in the volume of goods exported compared to February 2025, despite the challenging circumstances. According to Yulia Svyrydenko, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, the European Union (EU) remains Ukraine’s largest trading partner, contributing to the success of the country’s export activities.
The total value of exports in March 2025 reached $3.6 billion (£2.87 billion), which is a 4.5% increase compared to March 2024 and an 18% rise compared to February 2025. Although the physical volume of goods exported in the first quarter of 2025 is lower than last year, with 9.9 million tonnes of goods exported compared to 11.9 million tonnes in 2024, the overall value of these exports is higher. This suggests that Ukraine has successfully increased the value of its exports, despite the war.
Svyrydenko highlighted that key export items such as iron, sunflower seeds, sunflower oil, and meal have contributed significantly to the growth in exports. Among the top seven products generating the most revenue are corn, sunflower oil, wheat, iron ore, soybeans, insulated wires, and iron.
