(The Hill) — President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris will make their first public appearance together since last week’s Election when the two leaders attend a Veterans Day ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery.

Biden and Harris will participate in a wreath-laying at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. First lady Jill Biden and second gentleman Doug Emhoff will also attend, the White House said.

Harris will also attend Biden’s remarks at the amphitheater at Arlington Cemetery.

Harris last week lost the presidential election to President-elect Donald Trump, with Trump winning all seven battleground states. He is also on track to win the popular vote. Finger-pointing has ensued over who was most to blame for Harris’ defeat.

The vice president replaced Biden as the Democratic nominee in late July after Biden ended his candidacy amid mounting pressure from lawmakers who feared he would not run a competitive campaign against Trump.

Both Harris and Biden delivered speeches last week vowing a peaceful transfer of power and separately urging supporters not to give up the fight for their values. Biden praised Harris for running an “inspiring campaign.”

“She gave her whole heart and effort, and she and her entire team should be proud of the campaign they ran,” Biden said.
