TOPEKA (KSNT) – Checking your voting history is an important part of the election process for many, but some Kansans are wondering why their voter history has not yet been updated.
Kansans can view their voter history, also known as voter credit, on the Secretary of State’s (SOS) website. However, local governments need time before they can confirm that.
While Kansas had a high voter turnout, it wasn’t record-breaking. Regardless, the state needs time to certify all of its votes.
27 News recently received concerns from some members of the community who have not seen their voting credit posted on the SOS’s website showing they voted in the recent General Election. We reached out to the SOS to find out why.
State officials say county election officials are responsible for certifying all votes and eventually updating your voter credit. They say that should be updated by Dec. 1.
“Once I found out it’s not going to be showing up until everything is certified towards the beginning of December, that’s fine,” said Kansas voter Tony Reid. “It’s just I’d like to see that information more present for everyone to see. If you go in and vote, you want to make sure it’s counted.”
If you voted by mail, the SOS said its website tracks mail-in ballots’ arrival to the election office and should be immediately shown in voter view. This is the resource on the SOS’s website where you can find your full voting history.
