Caged tiger wheeled into LSU’s Tiger Stadium for the first time since 2015 at governor’s behest
BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — A caged tiger was wheeled onto the Tiger Stadium field for the first time in nearly a decade before kickoff of Saturday night’s game between No. 14 LSU and No. 11 Alabama. The moment fulfilled the wishes of Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry, who had the tiger transported to Baton Rouge from Florida for the occasion. LSU has a live tiger named Mike VII in a 15,000-square-foot enclosure near Tiger Stadium but decided years ago against bringing it into the stadium out of concern for how it would respond to visual and audio effects during pregame festivities. Animal rights activists protested outside Tiger Stadium before the game.
