TOPEKA (KSNT) – While it might not be Veteran’s Day yet, that’s not stopping people in Topeka from honoring those who have served.
The annual sunflower Salute Veteran’s Day parade took place in Downtown Topeka Saturday, November 9. In honor of Veteran’s Day on Monday, many local ROTC programs, bands and veterans walked through Kansas Avenue proudly representing the armed forces.
This day not only recognizes the people who have fought for our country, but also remembers the ones we have lost.
“I wanted to bring my two little grandsons,” Barbra Baker, local attendee, said. “Their father served our country, unfortunately we lost him. I just like to involve them in anything that involves the serving of our country and the freedom that we have.”
This was the parade’s 11th annual celebration.
