RUGBY, ND (KXNET) — Rugby will soon come to life in a new episode of “My Town” — a documentary series that explores unique rural communities across midwestern America.
Rugby’s feature in the docuseries is part of a broader marketing initiative from the town’s Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB), as well as its Job Development Authority and the Rugby Economic Development Corporation, to showcase the area. The project was partially funded through a grant from the ND Department of Commerce’s Regional Workforce Impact Program, as well as multiple local businesses and organizations.
The episode — which is produced by Cory Hepola — promises to reveal aspects of Rugby that are both iconic and surprising. Highlights include Hepola working on a bison ranch, taking a cooking class, learning about smaller schools, and taking a closer look at the town’s new hospital system.
“Being featured on ‘My Town’ is an opportunity for our community to shine on a national stage, Chamber and CVB Director Laurie Odden explained. “The show captures the essence of who we are and the values we stand for, showcasing our heritage, vibrant local businesses, and the fantastic people who make Rugby a wonderful place to call home.”
The Rugby episode of “My Town” is set to premiere online on Sunday, December 1. To celebrate, the Rugby CVB invites the community to celebrate with a watch party at the Lyric Theatre. Doors to this event will open at 6 p.m. with a red-carpet photo session and a selection of short videos highlighting the community.
The video itself will begin at 7:07 p.m., and be followed by a Q-and-A session with featured participants. To reserve a free ticket for the event, register at this link.
New Episodes of “My Town” will be released each Sunday evening following the debut. To learn more about the project, follow it on Facebook, or stream the series for free on YouTube.
