Norway’s €500 million military aid package for Ukraine announced last week includes F-16 fighter jets and NASAMS air defense systems. Hennadiy Kovalenko, director of the International Defense Cooperation Department of Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense, revealed the details during the Kyiv Security Forum, according to RBC Ukraine.
Norwegian Minister of Defense Bjørn Arild Gram recently visited Odesa, meeting with Ukrainian military officials and his counterpart, Rustem Umerov. During the visit, Ukrainian officials showcased a rehabilitation center for servicemen and border fortifications while briefing Gram about the current security situation.
Kovalenko emphasized that the new aid package encompasses F-16 fighter jets and NASAMS systems. Umerov expressed gratitude to Norway for allocating the military aid and confirmed the transfer of six F-16 aircraft by the end of the year.
In addition to the equipment, Norway will allocate $118.8 million specifically for purchasing weapon systems and spare parts for Ukrainian F-16s. The country has also signaled its readiness to invest in Ukraine’s defense industry.
Norway has joined the aviation coalition supporting Ukraine and has already begun transferring F-16 fighter jets to the country as part of ongoing military assistance efforts.
