ukrainian drones strike berdiansk port under russian occupation file before rentua berdyansk

Ukrainian drones conducted a targeted attack on the maritime port of Berdiansk in southern Ukraine overnight on 31 October, according to Vladimir Rogov, a Russian-appointed member of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation.

Berdiansk, located on the coast of the Azov Sea, is one of two Ukrainian ports in the area, the other being Mariupol, which is also under Russian occupation. Russia utilizes these port facilities to export looted goods and bring in military supplies.  The drone attack continues Ukraine’s drone strikes on Moscow’s rear facilities in the occupied territory and Russia, including airfields, ammunition depots, fuel and logistics sites.

Rogov reported that at least six drones targeted the port, though he did not provide details about the attack’s consequences. As a result of the incident, the occupation authorities announced the closure of schools, kindergartens, and other public facilities on 31 October.

The Russian Ministry of Defense reported early on 31 October that they had intercepted and destroyed 21 Ukrainian drones over six Russian regions and the Black Sea area.

At the time of publication, Ukrainian officials had not commented on the alleged attack, and the outcome remained uncertain.

On 28 October, sources from Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate reported a successful sabotage operation in Berdiansk, where resistance forces successfully destroyed a railway bridge in the occupied city.
