Man dies after hitting semi-truck head-on in northern Kansas

REPUBLIC COUNTY (KSNT) – One person is dead following a crash in northern Kansas on Wednesday.

The Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP) reported the crash occurred just before 5 a.m. on Oct. 23 about four-and-a-half miles north of Belleville on U.S. Route 81. A Ford F150 was traveling south in the northbound lanes of US-81 while a semi-truck was heading north.

The Ford hit the semi head-on, coming to a stop on its wheels in the median facing northeast. The semi truck stopped partially in the media and across the left lane facing northwest.

State troopers said the driver of the Ford, Xavier C. Robison, 20, of Republic, died in the crash. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The driver of the semi truck, a 34-year-old man from Texas, was hospitalized after the crash. A passenger inside the semi truck, a 33-yearold man from Texas, was uninjured.
