Canada labour minister proposes new mediator for Montreal port workers strike

(Reuters) – Canada’s Maritime Employers Association said on Tuesday Labour Minister Steve MacKinnon had proposed the appointment of a special mediator for a 90-day period between the union and the Montréal Longshoremen’s Union.

MacKinnon said in a post on X that there would be no strike or lock-out during the 90-day deadline for negotiations at port of Montreal.
